Volkswagen Bora 2000 -any comments, good and bad experience .

Hi there,
Would anyone have an idea of this car/model. Please let me know cause thinking to have one. It's second hand and I would be the 1st owner. Still smell and look new but never know anyone who have/had VW in the past. My knowledge in this car is limited and so is my budget.
Appreciate your recommendation and criticism.

Don't do it. Is a discontinued model and it wasn't so good back when it was new.

Chinese have no idea about car care and maintenance. Unless you absolutely must have a car buy new.

Lets get it straight. The Bora still exists. It has since 1979. A 2000 version was the car they built from 1999 - 2005 when it was replaced by the new version. Called the Jetta in other markets it's a saloon version of the Golf. The Passat is a completely different model.

Actually a pretty reliable machine, but in HK should be extremely cheap. A 2.0 version should come in under $30K and a 2.3 V5 may be around the $40K mark. An AA inspection can be done for around $1100.

Evildeeds...sorry kid. My dad owned a Jetta way back in the 70s...A bora is a polo with a more expensive pricetag. Don't buy it.

thanks guys. I already bought it and I will drive it on Tues 15/July. Since the dealer is my neighbor/friend he assure me that this is the best he can offer price/ reliability wise. Plus smell and look new. 1st owner in HK. He added new features i.e. parking sensor, remote control alarm system and something technical that I forgot. Goes with six month warranty in labor and parts, free MOT and Road tax for a year. Had a BMW 92 model and drove it for a year. starts to break down piece by piece and I meant it literally. 2 windows went inside the panel and cant close them during the typhoon , rear view mirror fell while driving, black trimming came off etc,..yeah I know its old so can't really blame the car. Thanks for the comments and will post my experience here.
