I posted this question in the parenting section but thought I would also post it here.
My daughter has head lice and I am getting very frustrated because I can't seem to find very many products to help get rid of them here in HK. The only thing I was able to find that is supposed to kill them is Quellada but my daughter is under 2 and I'm not sure if I should use it on her. The only other products I could find are for repelling the lice not killing or getting rid of them.
The other thing I would like to find is a decent nit comb that will actually help to remove the lice and nits. So far I have had to do it manually without a comb and it is very difficult with such a young child. I got rid of most of them but there always seem to be more eggs whenever I check her hair!
If anyone knows where I can find some good products or has any advice on how to get rid of the nits I would really appreciate it.
Chinese 'drug' (herbal) stores have remedies that work as head lice are an old problem, especially n rural areas. You can also get fine toothed combs from them, too.
Matilda stocks Permithrin which is licensed from age of 2. A 2 year old can be treated under medical supervision. We also stock the lice combs.
Interestingly, many healthauthorities in the UK have adopted a comb and comb policy: ie keep the hair lice free and no further nits will develop. This is a good strategy as long as hair is checked daily for two weeks (using some conditioner when combing is helpful).
