Good one, especially the 2nd part, a blaze of optimism. But I'm drawing a blank. Check out Babyface down by the river near Haizhu Plaza - see what you think of that.

The one and only Mu Zimei, I used to see in Babyface all the time, if that's any attraction for you. She's actually really nice too.

haven't checked out the bar/pub scene for a long while, but I believe there is no such "set place" for women to do "decent men shopping". you just have to try different places and find the one with the variety of ladies of your liking. meanwhile, if you happen to find it hard to find the right kid of place/group/person, maybe you could try to have a good time for yourelf. best luck.
