Mold in Wardrobes

Help! I am new to the humid season here & I have just discovered mold growing on all my clothes after being away for a month. it is everywhere. apart from washing & drycleaning all my clothes, how do i prevent it from returning? are there any anti-fungal sprays available?

Hi Contessa,

First of all you need to buy a dehumidifier or two, depends on the size of your place becasue you may also need one in the general living room area as well besides the one you need for drying the clothes.

Then re-wash your clothes with normal detergent plus some desinfectant such as Dettol (from the local supermarket). This should effectively remove the mold and kill the germs. Then once washed you should hang the clothes inside a room, say bathroom, and dry them by using the dehumidifier with washroom door closed and toilet cover closed until the clothes are dried.

During the humid season, you basically have to do this as this is my experience after being here for the last 14 years. I hate that when my clothes are not fully dried and having that "muggy" or "sticky" feeling.

thanks - that's the best advice i've received. as well as the mould , drying clothes is really difficult & they do always smell funny, so i'll try drying them with the dehumidifier in the room.
