About 10 days or so ago I noticed a big damp patch on a wall of our apartment. It dried out but the problem has recurred a couple of times in heavy rain.
I spoke to the management office of our complex three days ago (Saturday morning). They came and took a photo of my wall but no sign of further action.
Any thoughts on what I should do next (apart from visit the management office and see what they are doing).
I have HSBC's home insurance package. Maybe that will cover it?
Also, any names of good English speaking builders in the Ma On Shan area who might be able to look at it for me?
Are you a tenant or the owner of your flat? If tenant, management should help, do chase them, and your landlord, too. If they want to protect the value of their property, they'll get something sorted out quickly.
If it's your own flat, you need to act as fast as possible with the other co-owners of the building, because this means there's a leak in the wall, which will damage your property and theirs. I should think there is nothing much you can do in this weather in terms of maintenance of the building, unfortunately, but you can use the time until the dryer season to sort out builders.
Check your HSBC insurance contract and see what it covers. If it's not your flat or a faulty appliance in your home that's causing the problem, they will probably not be able to help.
