Confirmed. If an unmarried couple is looking to relocate to HK then one will not be granted a Dependant Visa linked to the other's Employment Visa. That seems to be the most common issue.
Can you elaborate? I am only asking because me and my husband of 9 months (with whom I have lived with for 12 years) are considering adoption. I was told that I could not proceed with the adoption until we were married for three years. If I went to family court here in Hong Kong and established a cohabitating relationship (using financial documents and proof of residence documents) for those 12 years would I have a good case or am I waisting my time? Please help.
Married for 3 years - Unless they have changed the law here, I know someone who adopted a few years ago who were not married for 3 years when they adopted. Have you been told so by the Social Welfare Department?
I was told that I would have to wait to meet the requirements from International Social Services. It would seem that since I reside in Hong Kong I must meet abide by the Statutes set forth by this governement in order to adopt here or outside of this country regardless of my nationality. Does anyone know of anything different?
